Marina Nord is a postdoctoral research fellow at the V-Dem Institute. Her research interests lie at the intersection of international political economy and regime transformation, and primarily focus on the economic underpinnings of autocratic regime (in)stability. Methodologically she is broadly interested in statistical models of causal inference, and the use of machine learning techniques for tackling social science and public policy problems. Before joining the V-Dem Institute, Marina worked on several research projects at the Hertie School and at the German Institute for Economic Research in Berlin. She holds a PhD in Political Economy and a Master of Public Policy from the Hertie School, the University of Governance in Berlin, a MSc in Economics from the Humboldt University of Berlin, and a MSc in Applied Mathematics and Computer Science from the Moscow State University.
