According to the latest V-Dem’s Democracy Report, Fiji is one of top-10 democratizing countries over the last decade. How is media freedom faring? Today’s Graph of the Week looks at two key aspects over two decades.

Government efforts at censorship reached almost their worst point after the 2006 coup but censorship is improving steadily as Fiji has re-democratizatized in the last five years. In contrast, media self-censorship on politically sensitive issues is still getting worse.
