What made you interested in applying for an internship at V-Dem?

My interest in applying for an internship at V-Dem was first due the really incredible and extensive work they conduct on democracy. As a student of political science, I realised it would be a great opportunity to learn and experience how the institute works.

If you were to advise this internship to a student, what would you emphasize?

The internship allows to perform different tasks involving research, data work, content writing, among others. The environment is also great, and I enjoyed a lot working here! Moreover, Gothenburg is a lovely city that offers some great places worth visiting.

What made you interested in applying for an internship at V-Dem?

When I heard that V-Dem produces the world's largest dataset on democracy, I had a feeling that this must be the place to be for students of all social sciences. In times when the very existence of facts has been called into question, I was highly interested in gaining insight into measuring recent trends in democratization or autocratization and how this knowledge can be transferred to create a common factual basis for science and society.

If you were to advise this internship to a student, what would you emphasize?

The internship at V-Dem is a great opportunity to apply theoretical knowledge from coursework to carry out independent and advanced investigative tasks. Since V-Dem is currently enjoying a lot of positive recognition you will be part of a young and highly motivated team that is discussing all relevant questions towards the future of democracy.
