The V-Dem & ANTICORRP Policy Dialogue Conference 2016

The conference features Principal Investigators and Project Managers from the V-Dem Institute and the ANTICORRP project and counts amongst its speakers leading scholars on democratization, democracy, good government and corruption from universities across continents such as University of Notre Dame, Boston University, Lund University, University of Gothenburg, Emory University, University of Florida, the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile, and many others.

The V-Dem & ANTICORRP Policy Dialogue Conference 2016 is structured to enhance dialogue between researchers and practitioners, policy professionals, NGOs, and international organizations. The Policy Dialogue features scholars from both V-Dem team and the Quality of Government Institute research group involved in the ANTICORRP project.

Preliminary Program:

10.00-10.45        Plenary: Welcome followed by series of brief (5-mins) presentations of the latest research findings and their policy implications. The new full V-Dem data set and the QoG-ANTICORRP data on corruption and control of corruption expand the possibility to provide answers to critical questions within the area of democracy support and control of corruption, and thereby on issues such as poverty, freedoms,  health and development.

10.45-11.00        Coffee break

11.00-13.00        Break-out sessions: By theme based on the series of presentations. Facilitation of intensive, in-depth discussions of findings by the associated researchers, and their implications in small groups.

13.00-14.00        Lunch on site (provided to all participants)

14.00-16.00        Break-out sessions: By themes advertised in advance: Based on the whole day, these sessions are for turning the tables around – what issues and questions are on the agenda for you as practitioners in areas of democracy, human rights and development, good government, and related fields? How can we as researchers help you?

The V-Dem & ANTICORRP Policy Dialogue Conference 2016 will be held at Handelshögskolan, University of Gothenburg, Gothenburg.
